Bird Art

We studied birds and after our Natureland trip we made these!

Rooms 4,5 & 6 trip to Natureland Zoo

Sometime last Term Rooms 4, 5 and 6 went to wait for it wait for it Natureland Zoo (yay). We had to study animals and draw our fave bird and mammal. Anyways we all had fun. We all loved the little birds in the bird cage. They are so cute and the peacocks were funny. I remember my friend Rachael was sitting near the owls and there was a pukeko on the roof and she said it grabbed her pencil and pecked on it. She had to jump and try to scare the pukeko away and she got her pencil back...eventually. OK that was one funny thing. OH!! Wait I just remembered that i was talking to my friends Sophie,Joy,Trinity and Rebekah. We were by the goat pen and I was leaning on the wood. Suddenly Sophie laughed with her hand over her mouth. Then Joy,Trinity and Rebekah laughed. I said ''what?'' They said ''turn around.'' I turned around and I felt my hair being pulled. I screamed ''AHHHHHHHHHH!!'' The goat was eating my hair! I laughed and said ''dumb goat.'' Oh well I bet you had a laugh at the two stories - anyway bye. ^.^

Tree planting

We were so excited we were going to do tree planting! Everyone got gumboots or old shoes. At tree planting we found dead hedgehogs. After tree planting the whole school planted about 500 trees. We all got an award from the council. Hurray for tree planting!

Rugby World Cup

Last term we had a day for parents to come and watch us play a game of Rippa Rugby. We dressed up as The All Blacks and England. Our teams had players from Room 6, 5 and 4. The all blacks had to dress up in black and the England team had to dress up white. All the younger kids had different country's flags for supporting other countries in the RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011. The parents were yelling out loud saying "GO ALL BLACKS GO ENGLAND!!" England started with the ball and did a wonderful pass to one of their team mates. The All Blacks were ready to rip one of the rippers of England. IVA came up and ripped one of the rippers and held it up and said RIP! "One rip, 5 metres back on the field All Blacks!" said the referee. 5 metres back went the All Blacks as fast as they could so they could rip another rip and have the ball once and for all!! The whistle blew and it was half time. The referee called out "half time get to your coaches and have a break." It was time to get back on the field. Everyone was cheering. They were so happy cause they were cheering. Two people said "Go South Africa!" and one of the parents said "sorry but South Africa didn't make it to the Finals here in Nelson!"

Te Awhina Marae

Last week we visited Te Awhina during Maori language week and the marae whanau showed us around. It was awesome! They have one of the odest churches in NZ actually on their marae! We loved hearing their stories and about the way they are able to help whanau from the Christchurch earthquake.

Book Week

We all had fun again dressing up after a week of reading heaps of books and stories!

Soccer

At lunchtime we played on the back field and Logan, Tyler, Tom and Kolsey are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE SWINGS ARE BACK !!!

Oh no! The swings are gone! It was on 2010 the swings were gone and it's because the pole that held the swings was old and wasn't very stable anymore. But now in 2011 Mr Harris asked Mr Burgess if he could get a new pole and Mr Burgess said "yes". So now if you go to my school you'll see the swings back up. If you go there at lunchtime or morning teatime you'll see lots of people lining up at the swings and you'll want a turn too!!!!!!

Electricity

In science we have been learning about electricity. Last week our class did an experiment on electricity. First we got wire then two batteries and a battery holder. We got a funny looking switch and a light bulb. We had to switch the handle part to the right and the left and see which side worked to light the bulb. Then we had to get the wires and put them on other things and see if they worked. WE LOVE SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!

Seaweek Art

For Seaweek we drew some fishes. We showed them at our class then we showed assembly. We made another fish then we made a dolphin, a whale and a seal. That's how we celebrated Seaweek!!!!!!!!!!
