Reading

STRATEGY - Making Connections

Text to self - When we make a link between the text and our own prior knowledge and experience.

Summarising

Using information webs and other graphic organisers to present the main ideas and facts we have read about. Later we use this to make google slides to share with others.

Writing

Descriptions of a moment in time

We will learn the correct tense and how to use our five senses to write descriptions about our special places and moments in time e.g. watching dogs on a beach. Mondays we will have fun with narrative stories.

To proofread our work we will use PIGS - check Punctuation (capital letters, full stops...), Interesting words (adjectives, technical words, precise verbs, similes), Grammar (present tense), Spelling (find errors and underline, look some up).

Maths

Addition and subtraction - looking at two main strategies: using ones and tens, and using tidy numbers. Number knowledge: adding to 100 e.g. 75 + .... = 100, and calculating how many 10s and 100s are in a number (plus many other knowledge goals). We will be beginning to memorise x2, x10 and x5 tables. We will study geometry - rotations, turns, reflections, slides.
